After four years on the establishment of the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani, the Ministry of Higher Education of Iraq has not recognized AUI-S.
Last month, a delegation from the HIM visited AUI-S observing the academic and logistic abilities of AUI-S, but according to a source, they have decided to ask more things from AUI-S.
The delegation might visit AUI-S again in the future.
AUI-S is recognized by the Kurdistan Ministry of Higher Education. It is also accredited by The Washington, D.C.based American Academy of Liberal Education. However, the accreditation is conditional. AUI-S has to make necessary changes during 3 years in order to be given full accreditation for 5 years.
AUI-S was founded in 2007 by Dr. Barham Salih, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister.

It does not matter. The ministry itself is not recognized.
is DOES matter. If it is not recognized, then we will not be trusted academically when we graduate.
